Admission and Registration Conditions

Landscape and Ornamental Plants Breeding Program accepts students in the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) score type. The registration dates of the students placed in the program by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) and the documents to be requested during registration are determined by ÖSYM and the university.

Program Description

Landscape and Ornamental Plants Breeding Program is a two-year (four semesters) higher education program that provides education in the field of landscape design/planning and ornamental plants cultivation. Within the scope of the program, our students are trained mainly on application and they take lessons on ornamental plants cultivation, nursery pruning techniques, maintenance and repair of parks and gardens, land arrangement techniques, recognition and use of structural and plant materials, preparation of landscape projects, presentation and application by visualization.

Purpose of the Program

The principles of design and drawing of landscape projects for rural, urban and private areas, which have the qualities required by the region and the sector, are qualified, talented, experienced, enterprising, dynamic and have an interprofessional knowledge-coordination base, can grow, reproduce, maintain and apply landscape plants. To train qualified intermediate staff who know how to use natural and cultural resources in moderation, who have a good command of lawn areas, who speak the same language as landscape architects and agricultural engineers, who are equipped with theoretical and practical knowledge.

Vision

To be a program that trains well-equipped intermediate staff in the field of landscaping and ornamental plants, renews and develops itself. In the program, it is aimed to train intermediate staff who can assist engineers and landscape architects working in the fields of preparing and presenting landscape projects in accordance with technical principles and applying them to the land, growing plants, using and maintaining plant and structural materials in the landscape.

To raise qualified individuals who are productive, researcher, self-confident, sensitive to ethical values, contributing to the development of relevant sectors, contributing to socio-cultural life in society, having sufficient technical education, knowledge and skills, adapting to changing conditions, and following technological developments.

The Need of the Industry

There is a need for intermediate staff in landscaping and ornamental plants in enterprises, public institutions and organizations and private workplaces providing services in the field of landscape and ornamental plants in many provinces and districts, including Antalya Serik region, which is one of the important tourism centers and provides great inputs to the country's economy.

Employment Opportunities

Those who complete the Landscape and Ornamental Plants Cultivation Program are given the title of "Landscape and Ornamental Plants Technician". Landscape and Ornamental Plants Technician as an assistant to the landscape architect, applying the landscaping design and plans to the land, creating lawn areas, planting, planting, maintenance, fertilization, pruning, irrigation and marketing of landscape and ornamental plants, exploration, quantity and quality of the projects designed by the landscape architect. It carries out the operations of drawing, directing the workers during the works carried out in the field, preparing the progress payment files for the landscaping works made to public institutions and organizations, implementation and inspection of the reinforcement elements such as landscaping construction activities, ornamental pools.

Program Graduation Conditions

The education period of the Landscape and Ornamental Plants Cultivation Program is 2 years (4 semesters). In order for students to graduate from the program, they must fulfill the conditions specified in the Akdeniz University Education-Training and Examination Directive.
